Terms of use
Last updated 5 November 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Caspar Curtis, who makes Near & Dear. By using the app, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Who it’s for
Near & Dear is for people aged 13 and over. Keep your sign-in to yourself, and use a name the people in your groups will recognise.
What you share
What you write is yours. You let us store it and show it to the people in the groups you share it with, only so that the app can work. The privacy policy says more.
No tolerance for abuse
Near & Dear has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive people. Don’t use it to post or share anything that:
- threatens, harasses, bullies or intimidates anyone
- is hateful towards anyone because of who they are
- is sexually explicit, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way
- encourages violence or self-harm
- shares someone’s private information or images without their permission
- is illegal, or helps someone break the law
Reporting and blocking
To report a note, open it, tap the three dots, then Report this note. To report a reply, press and hold it. What you report is hidden for you straight away, and we look at every report within 24 hours. If it breaks these terms, we remove it and remove the person who posted it, and we may close their account.
To block someone, open Me, tap the group, then tap their name. They leave the group and can’t come back with a code. You can also write to casparcurtis@outlook.com about anything that worries you.
Ending
You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Me. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
The app itself
We work to keep Near & Dear running well, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, so keep your own copy of anything important. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law, including your rights as a consumer.
If you got Near & Dear from the App Store, Apple’s standard licence agreement applies too. Apple isn’t responsible for the app or for supporting it.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep any right to bring a claim in your own country’s courts.
Changes
If these terms change, we’ll update this page and the date above.
